Mild earthquake hits parts of Hyderabad; registered 1.8 on the Richter scale

The News Minute | January 24, 2015 | 10:15 am ISTCitizens in some areas of Hyderabad panicked and rushed out of their homes on Friday night after experiencing mild tremors caused by a shallow earthquake epicentered near Budvel.According to a report in The Hindu, the first tremors were noticed around 10.30 p.m. in many areas including Jubilee Hills, Towlichowki, Rajendranagar and Pahadishareef and some parts of Old City.Hyderabad based National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI) in Uppal recorded the earthquake at 1.8 on the Richter Scale.The earthquake was shallow and not a cause of concern, the officials of NGRI added.
