Family members of a 28-year-old woman from Hyderabad, who died under suspicious circumstances in Australia alleged on Saturday that she was killed by her husband and the in-laws for failing to bring additional dowry.

The body of Ramyakrishna P, the woman, was brought to Hyderabad on Friday night.

Ramyakrishna's brother Krishna said her husband Mahanth N, who flew to Hyderabad with her body, returned to Australia from the airport, without even attending the last rites.

Around 8.30 pm on Friday night, the body of Ramya Krishna, 28, reached the Hyderabad airport by an Emirates flight, while her husband Mahant arrived by a Singapore Airlines flight from Australia at 10 pm the same night...All the members from both families except Mahant came out of the airport, while he remained at the RGI airport lounge for a couple of hours. He collected Ramya's passport and, her family members suspect, took a Malaysian Airlines flight to Melbourne.

Ramyakrishna married Mahanth, a businessman hailing from Warangal district of Telangana, four years ago.

"She was harassed for additional dowry by her husband and in-laws. Despite giving them property worth Rs one crore, one kg of gold and Rs 40 lakh in cash during the marriage, they harassed her," said her brother.

"She was under depression. We were told (by the husband's family) that she hanged herself at her house in Melbourne (last week)," Krishna said.

A complaint in this regard has been lodged with KPHB police in Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, speaking to a local news channel over phone, Mahanth and his family members denied the allegations.
