KCR wants to rename social welfare department as SC development dept

The News Minute | June 25, 2014 | 6:22 PM ISTTelengana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has reportedly asked to change the Social Welfare Department’s name into SC Development Department. This comes after a review meeting on implementation of SC welfare schemes that the Minister held with district collectors at the Secretariat. KCR also added that each district in Telangana will get Rs 800 crore per year in the coming five years for the development of the poor. He also said that he will allocate 15.4 per cent funds to SC Development Department in the budget along with introducing new schemes for the welfare of the Scheduled Castes. Rao has also given the collectors the freedom to come up with schemes for SCs. The state will be divided into 510 units for the implementation of these schemes. KCR also said that educated SC individuals in each districts should be made part of the programme implementation.KCR also reiterated that each SC family will be given three acres of land.
