Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student leader Umar Khalid was issued a notice by the University of Hyderabad (UoH) on Sunday for 'trespassing' into its campus.
The Hindu reported that Khalid was in the city to speak at another event and visited a protest meet on campus that was organized by the All India Students Association.
However, his speech was soon interrupted by the ABVP, who also called the campus security.
The report adds:
As per the handwritten note issued by security officials of the UoH “some students and security personnel” identified Mr. Khalid and “there was no record of his arrival as per arrival book”. The UoH has declared this as trespassing.
"Is the University of Hyderabad a foreign country, to go where you need to go through an elaborate procedure and apply for permission? The same security which, rather than stopping the ABVP goons, pounced on me has now brought this atrocious release. They are scared of the solidarities emerging across universities for #JusticeForRohith and want to cut us off from each other by bringing this insider/outsider logic," Umar later wrote on Facebook.
He also went on to express his dissent in a series of posts.
