In a shocking incident, a 30-year-old software professional was confined and physically and sexually assaulted by her former boyfriend at his apartment in Hyderabad's Tolichowki for five days.

The victim was rescued on Monday by a 'SHE team' after she managed to send an SOS to a friend on Facebook on Sunday.

The victim is a native of Karnataka, while her former boyfriend, who has been identified as Syed Imad Hasan, is a native of Aligarh. The duo used to work together with a software firm at Gachibowli and decided to get married.

However, the woman refused to marry him later, as her family members would not allow an inter-religious marriage. Syed was harassing the woman ever since she left to Dubai in September this year, forcing her to talk to him via video chat by blackmailing her.

The victim finally agreed to meet him in person when she flew down to Hyderabad for her US visa interview.

"Hasan used to force the survivor to video chat with him every day . If she failed, he used to blackmail her saying that he will meet her father directly and talk about their relationship. The culprit picked up the victim at the RGI Airport five days ago and took her to his flat and confined her there. He threatened to kill her by showing a knife, a can of petrol and a rope,"  SHE teams' DSP Kavita told the Times of India.

The victim was also made to switch off her cellphone and log in to her gmail and Facebook accounts to monitor what people were saying about her disappearance. The victim was also allegedly sexually assaulted and was threatened to convert to Islam to marry Syed.

After four days, the victim managed to get a message across to a former colleague via Facebook and also sent him Syed's address.

"Her friend then alerted her brother in Karnataka. Her brother came to Hyderabad on Monday and along with the survivor's friend, approached us. We immediately dispatched a team and rescued her," Hyderabad ACP (crime) Swati Lakra told TOI.
