2. The state government has identified more than 200 new ambulance vehicles to replace the existing ones under the ‘108’ambulance services. Nearly 52,000 water connections in the Old City and its surrounding areas will go dry by the first week of September. 4. An electronic gate and biometric system for entry into the KBR National Park was inaugurated on Sunday. Anyone entering the park will have to swipe their smart card or bar-coded ticket and also give a thumb impression. It is the first national park in the country to be equipped with such security measures, Deccan Chronicle reports.

In a major step forward towards the plans of Telangana Government to make the state self-reliant and a surplus power state, work has began on the 4,400-MW ultra thermal power plant at Damaracherla in Nalgonda district. In the first phase, BHEL would set up 4,400-MW thermal power plant with two units of 600-MW each and four units of 800-MW each at Veerlapalem. Read more.
