The Hyderabad police on Wednesday arrested two youngsters for allegedly duping e-tailers Flipkart and Amazon by returning their products with boxes full of sand.

According to the Times of India, police nabbed Yahiya Mohammad Ishaque, 19, a psychology student, who had signed up as a bookseller with Amazon to study the packaging details, and his brother-in-law Md Shahroz Ansari, 24, a BBA final year student from Golconda.

"When the delivery executive brings the product to Yahiya's house, he receives the item while Ansari stays put with the delivery boy outside the house. Yahiya takes the package inside and carefully opens it. Yahiya then takes the product out, fills the package with sand and deftly seals it," deputy commissioner of police (DCP), Task Force, B Limba Reddy told the newspaper.

Yahiya then pretended to try and pay with his invalid debit card, failing which he would return the package to the executive as the transaction would fail.

The police recovered a few phones, a camera, a laptop and many more electronic gadgets.
