Hyderabad witnesses heavy rain with hail, trees uprooted and property damaged

Written by : TNM Staff

Hyderabad was greeted with inundated streets on Tuesday night as heavy rains and hail, accompanied by thundershowers lashed the city.

Several parts of the city witnessed power cuts, even as gusty winds uprooted trees in some areas.

According to reports, hail and gust even broke a few window panes in apartments, and damaged private and public property.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad witnessed 6 cm of rainfall, while parts of Telangana like Khammam and Mahbubabad witnessed 7 cm.

The Times of India reported that the reason for the rains was a trough, a region of low atmospheric pressure, that extended from the Maharashtra's North Vidarbha region to south Tamil Nadu, passing across Telangana and Andhra's Rayalaseema area.

Meanwhile, the IMD has predicted light to moderate rain accompanied with thundershowers over parts of Telangana on Wednesday.

It also predicted the possibility of hail at isolated places across the state.
