A youth from Hyderabad was allegedly stabbed to death by his room-mate in the US.

According to information reaching the family of Sankeerth (25) here on Tuesday, he was murdered in his room in Austin, Texas late on July 18.

Police detained Sai Sandeep Goud, one of the roommates of the victim and were questioning him.

"On Tuesday morning, we got a call from our relatives and Pranith, one of his friends, that Sankeerth was stabbed by one Sai Sandeep Goud, a roommate on Monday," Sankeerth's uncle Srinivas said.

Sankeerth died while being shifted to a hospital.

Another room-mate told the police that Sankeerth had a quarrel with Goud.

Reporting that the crime occurred at around 2.30 am (US time), the Times of India quotes Pranith as saying:

“I was sleeping in the bedroom while Sankirth and Sandeep were chatting in another room. I woke up suddenly when I heard some noise and found Sankirth crying for help with a stab wound in his abdomen. A panic-stricken Sandeep was pacing around in the hall. It happened so fast. I am still in a shock. I do not know why Sandeep attacked Sankirth,

Sankeerth had gone to the US two and a half years ago for studying Master of Science programme and after completing the education, had joined a job in Austin three months ago.

Goud had reportedly checked into his room early this month.

Sankeerth's father G. Vijaykumar, a government employee and mother Ramadevi were shocked on receiving the news.

A pall of gloom descended on their house located at Badi Chowdi in Sultan Bazar.

Sankeerth's family have approached IT Minister KT Rama Rao, Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya and other ministers from Telangana to get the dead body of Sankeerth as soon as possible.

Sankeerth's Uncle added, "We have approached Telangana ministers for help in bringing Sankeerth's body back and have also appealed for further investigation in this case. It is a very big loss for all of us, especially for his parents who had a lot of dreams for their son.
