Hyderabad medico commits suicide by injecting anaesthetic into her veins

Written by : TNM Staff

A 27-year-old medical student reportedly killed herself by mixing an anesthetic in a saline bottle and injecting it into her veins.

Reports suggest that the woman took the step because her parents had rejected her proposal to marry her boyfriend.

The New Indian Express reported that the woman identified as B Sravani, was a native of Neredcherla village in Miryalaguda mandal. She was a first-year PG student at Osmania Medical College and was staying with her classmate Ooha.

The report adds:

Around 7 pm, Sravani’s mother called her on her mobile phone. After getting no response, she called Ooha. When Ooha reached home, she found the flat locked from inside. On peeping through the window, she found her friend lying on a bed with saline injected into her veins. With the help of neighbours, Ooha broke open the door and rushed Sravani to Osmania General Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.

A case has been registered and the police are investigating the suicide.

This comes a day after a 16-year-old student committed suicide in her college hostel in Miyapur by setting herself on fire.

The girl, Satwika, was reported to be an MPC student at Sri Chaitanya Junior College's residential campus and set herself of fire soon after a phone call to her mother, in which she claimed that she did not want to stay in the hostel.

She suffered third-degree burns and died on the spot.
