Written by : TNM Staff

A Facebook prank involving two minor students resulted in their family members attacking each other and registering two separate cases with the police in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

According to a report in the Times of India, trouble began when a 15-year-old student Class VIII from Hakeempet opened a Facebook account posing as a young woman, Samia Naaz, and befriended a 16-year-old class X student from his neighbourhood.

Assuming that 'Samia' was a girl, the latter began chatting with 'her' only to suspect 'her' identity later when the former said said that 'she' liked the class X student's sister and wanted to meet her alone.

On December 11, the 15-year-old visited the spot specified by the 16-year-old only to find him there instead of his sister. Things heated up and the families of both the students came to know about the incident.

On the same night, family members 15-year-old went to the 16-year-old's house and allegedly assaulted his family members and damaged furniture. Each group lodged complaints in the Banjara Hills police station against the other.
