A police officer was arrested here on Monday for alleged extramarital relations with a married woman who came in contact with him through Facebook.

Sub-Inspector Vijay, 30, was caught red handed with the woman at her apartment in Moti Nagar.

Vijay was working at the Two Town police station in Khammam town of Telangana and was in Hyderabad for training at a state police academy.

The woman's husband, who works as a software engineer, had doubts about her fidelity. He returned home on Sunday night to find his wife with Vijay. He alerted the police that led to Vijay's arrest.

The software engineer and his wife hail from Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh.

A case has been registered against Vijay for adultery and trespass.
