As the winter sets in, the minimum temperature in Hyderabad city is expected to go down by four degree Celsius, because of the cold wind blowing from the northern regions of the country. 

 

On Sunday, the city recorded a minimum temperature of 12.9 degree Celsius, which is three degrees below the average temperature.

 

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) also predicted that the temperature will continue to drop and go down to a minimum of 10, sometimes even to single digits.

 

“Due to this constant flow of cold winds from the snow-clad mountains, maximum temperatures across the region have been settling in mid 20s, which are around 3-5 degrees below normal,” Director (in-charge) of Indian Meteorological Department YK Reddy told Times of India.

 

Earlier, the IMD issued a ‘cold day’ warning for Telangana.
The city recorded 12.9 degrees on Sunday, down from 13.5 degrees on Saturday. 

 

The dip in temperatures was also witnessed in other parts of the state including Medak, Khammam and Warangal.

 

IMD records show that the city's lowest temperature ever was a bone-chilling 6.1 degrees on January 8, 1946 and that of the state was a little lower at 4.4 degrees, which was recorded in Nizamabad on December 17, 1897.

 

Last week, Medak district recorded the lowest night temperature of 11 degree Celsius.
