An advertisement for Jawed Habib's Hair and Beauty salon depicting Hindu Gods sitting in the parlour was pulled down after outrage poured in on social media.

The ad showed Indian Goddess Durga, along with her children Kartik, Lakshmi, Saraswati, and Ganesh, enjoying a day at the beauty parlour.

The tag said, Gods too visit JH salon,’ reported India Today.

Following heavy criticism, Jawed issued an apology through a video on Twitter on Tuesday.

A complaint was also filed by M Kumar Sagar, a student of the University of Hyderabad at the Gachibowli police station on Thursday.

In his complaint, Kumar stated that he received a WhatsApp forward of the ad which he claimed insulted and demeaned Hindu gods.

Speaking to TNM, Gachibowli Inspector, S Chandrakanth said that they have taken the complaint and have sent it to superior officers for an opinion.
