Frustrated drivers of Ola Cabs, who were seeking alleged overdue payments and more bookings, attacked the company’s office at Kukatpally in Hyderabad on Thursday.

The incident reportedly occurred after the bouncers did not allow them inside the office.

“Some of the drivers were not getting sufficient bookings from the management, and also alleged that there were several payments that were overdue from the management. To discuss these issues, they reached the office. However, around eight to 10 bouncers barred them from entering the office and allegedly assaulted them,” C Kushalkar, inspector of KPHB Colony Police station, told TNM.

The protestors soon informed other drivers, and the crowd swelled up to more than a 100.

Some angry cab drivers started pelting stones on the building and damaged the windows. The crowd entered and damaged furniture in the office.

The drivers alleged that the management had appointed more driver-cum-owners than the total requirement. 

They also said that the reason behind this decision was to show that Ola was the largest cab operator, at least on paper.

“Initially, they depended on owner-cum-drivers and as the company began procuring own vehicles, it started reducing the number of bookings day-by-day,” a cab driver told Deccan Chronicle.

“One case has been registered against a cab driver for damaging the property,” the inspector said.
