Veteran Tollywood star Ghattamaneni Siva Rama Krishna Murthy, popularly known as Krishna, passed away on Tuesday, November 15. The 79-year-old was admitted to the Continental Hospital in Hyderabad’s Gachibowli at around 2 am on Monday after he fell unconscious. The veteran actor, who was Tollywood star Mahesh Babu’s father, had suffered a cardiac arrest and was kept under observation when he passed away. His final rites will take place in Hyderabad with state honours on Wednesday. Several celebrities from the film fraternity arrived at VijayaKrishna Nilayam in Nanakramguda, Hyderabad, to pay respects to the late superstar.
Several prominent personalities visited the actor’s residence to pay condolences to his family. Actors Allu Arjun, Ram Charan, Mohan Babu, Jr NTR, Naga Chaitanya, Venkatesh Daggubati, Vijay Deverakonda, Prabhas, Pawan Kalyan, and music composer S Thaman visited VijayaKrishna Nilayam to pay their respects and express condolence to Krishna’s family. Further, several politicians including former vice president Venkaiah Naidu, and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and former Andhra Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu also paid a visit to the late actor’s residence. CM K Chandrasekhar Rao hugged actor Mahesh Babu and consoled him. Similarly, Chandrababu Naidu had a brief chat with Mahesh Babu and other members of his family, offering them comfort.
In addition to being an artist, the late superstar Krishna also dabbled in politics. He was elected as Member of Parliament from Eluru constituency in 1989, representing the Congress party.

Krishna is survived by his children from his first wife Indira, Mahesh Babu, Padmavathi, Manjula and Priyadarshini, and his second wife, actor-filmmaker Vijaya Nirmala. Indira passed away earlier this year on September 28. Celebrities who visited actor Krishna’s residence also expressed their condolences to actor Mahesh Babu and his wife, actor Namrata Shirodkar.
Actor Mohan Babu, who was close to Krishna, broke down upon seeing the latter’s mortal remains. He was seen hugging the late actor’s brother Adisheshagiri Rao in one of the photos.
On Tuesday morning, the Telugu Film Producers Council announced that they will not be holding any meetings or events on Wednesday, November 16, as a mark of respect to actor Krishna.
