The charred body of a man, suspected to be that of an advocate, was on Sunday found in a car in Telangana, with police lodging a murder case in the incident.

Police received an information that a burnt car was found on the roadside in Keesara area of neighbouring Ranga Reddy district, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Malkajgiri Zone) E Ramachandra Reddy said.

"When we reached the spot, we found one charred body on the rear seat of the car. During verification and as per information available, the car belongs to one advocate Uday Kumar. However, we are in process of identifying the deceased," the officer said.

"Unidentified persons burnt the man to death. We need to establish the motive. As per the information given by the family members of advocate Uday Kumar, he had gone missing since last evening. They also said that there was a dispute over land around one-and-half-years ago. Police suspect the body to be of Uday Kumar, but we need to confirm it," the inspector said, adding investigations are underway.

"The post-mortem was done on the spot and efforts are on to identify the body through DNA profile," the senior police officer added.

Keesara Police Station Inspector P Guruva Reddy said they have registered a case of murder in this connection.
