Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC and daughter of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), K Kavitha, on Sunday, August 3, alleged that some BRS leaders were orchestrating a hate campaign against her through Teenmaar Mallanna, an MLC and suspended Congress leader.

Insinuating that former minister and Suryapet legislator G Jagadish Reddy was behind the conspiracy, Kavitha, without naming him, called him a “Lilliput,” a dig at his short stature. She questioned why BRS leaders remained silent on the issue when she was subjected to abuse.

Last month, Mallanna, a former news personality, stoked controversy by making derogatory remarks against Kavitha for celebrating the Congress government’s ordinance granting 42% reservation for BCs. Kavitha’s cultural organisation, Telangana Jagruthi, has been fighting for the BC reservation cause.

“Why is Kavitha celebrating the BC reservation ordinance being announced? Is she a BC?” He went on to ask if she had a relationship of a “plate” or a “bed” (interdining or sexual relationships) with BCs. The comment led to protests against Mallanna.

Kavitha further suggested that BRS supremo KCR, her brother and BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR), and senior BRS leader Harish Rao have isolated her. She blamed Jagadish Reddy for this. “I know who stopped them from supporting me. I believe in karma, and it will catch up with them,” she said.

She also slammed former education minister and BRS MLA Sabitha Indra Reddy’s son, P Karthik Reddy, calling him a political novice who should “know his limits.” She said that both Jagdish Reddy and Karthik Reddy had no role in building their party or had contributed to the Telangana statehood cause.

With this latest instance, the rift within the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party has become public.

Kavitha has been targeting a section of senior leaders since her confidential letter regarding the BRS public meeting to KCR was leaked a few months ago. Calling KCR a “god”, she had remarked that he is surrounded by devils.

Meanwhile, responding to her comments, Jagadish Reddy said that he was unaware of the comments made by Teenmaar Mallanna. He further accused Kavitha of parroting comments made by KCR’s opponents. “I pity her for her limited understanding of my role in the Telangana movement,” he added.
