AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday surrendered before Hyderabad DCP (South zone) over the alleged attack on Congress workers by AIMIM workers during GHMC elections.

DCP South Zone Satyanarayana told The News Minute, “AIMIM Chief and Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi surrendered before DCP South Zone around 10:20 am on Monday. He was sent to remand and he was also produced before eighth metropolitan magistrate at Nampally court.”

He added, “He surrendered because he was found guilty and as his presence was established in this case that is why he surrendered. After completion of the investigation, we were about to take action against him and were about to arrest him but he voluntarily surrendered today before DCP South.”

On February 2, a criminal case had been registered by the Mir Chowk police against All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi and a few others for attacking a Congress leader's convoy at Mir chowk.

As per the latest reports, Owaisi has been granted bail on a bond of Rs 5000 along with two sureties of the same amount.
