As many as 60 child labourers were rescued from various hotels in Telangana's Karimnagar district on Monday.

"Police raided hotels that fall under Sultanabad, Pothkapalli and Srirampur mandal limits and rescued 60 children employed there," Sultanabad Circle Inspector Tula Srinivas Rao said.

All the rescued children, aged below 10 years, were shifted to a government shelter and their parents are being counselled about ill-effects of child labour, police said.

Rao said that appropriate action will be taken against the proprietors of the hotels.

The two Telugu speaking states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh also see a huge influx of children who are smuggled in from Bihar, to work for their livelihood in various cities in the state.
