The Hyderabad Police have busted a high-profile sex work racket with the arrest of a client and an organiser, along with a female actor, who did Bhojpuri films, at a five-star hotel in Hyderabad.

Acting on a tip-off, personnel of the Commissioner's Task Force made the arrests late on Saturday night at the hotel in the city’s posh Banjara Hills area.

The client is a government employee from Gurgaon, Haryana, who was residing in Secunderabad, while the organiser has been identified as Janardhan Rao, a resident of Hyderabad who hails from Andhra Pradesh.

Three mobile phones and Rs 40,000 have been seized from the accused.

"Rao, a native of Ramachandrapuram in East Godavari, is a brothel organiser and procures upcoming film actresses from Mumbai. He organises services at star hotels in and around Hyderabad. He was previously arrested by Banjara Hills, Panjagutta and Chandanagar police. They get film actresses from Mumbai on a weekly contract by paying Rs 1 lakh. Rao collects Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 from each customer,” DCP, Commissioner’s Task Force, P. Radha Krishna Rao told reporters after busting the racket.

The police also said that the hotel, Radisson Blu Plaza, was also under their scanner. They said that they had already served a notice to the management to look out for such activities, while also probing if the hotel played any role in the racket.

According to media reports, Rao kept a database of small-time female actors, who were having trouble breaking into the industry and lured them with money. The police said that his phone was full of contacts, photos and videos of these actors.

In December last year, the same task force busted a high-profile sex work racket and saved two women actors after simultaneous raids were conducted at two five-star hotels in upscale Banjara Hills.

The Commissioner's Task Force, which conducted the raids on two rooms in Taj Deccan and Taj Banjara hotels, nabbed two 'organisers', who were identified as Monish Kadakia, a casting director for Bollywood, Telugu and Tamil films and D Venkat Rao, a sex work organiser.
