The 17-year-old was waiting at a bus stop in Maheshwaram when she was approached by the men who told her she would not be able to find a bus at that time and offered her a lift. They then took her to a secluded area and sexually assaulted her.

According to Maheshwaram police, the incident took place on Monday night around 8.30 pm. According to the police, the girl hails from Jeedimetla in Hyderabad and was on her way to her relatives' house located in Rangareddy.

"The victim has told us that she was waiting for a bus at the local bus stand when the two men offered her a lift claiming that she will not get a bus at that time. After they picked her up, however, they took her to a secluded spot and sexually assaulted her," the police added.

The police have recorded the statement of the survivor and have shifted her to a local hospital.

Though no arrests have been made so far, the police said a hunt has been launched to locate the accused. "Investigation is underway and the identification of the accused is being done. We will arrest them soon," Nayak said.
