In yet another case of untimely and premature deaths of lovers, a young couple was found dead on the railway tracks near Kuppam railway station in the wee hours of Wednesday. While the RPF police suspect it to be a case of suicide, it has not been established yet.

The couple – Monisha, aged 19 and Hemanth Kumar aged 22 – were found with their heads in a decapitated state on the railway tracks near Kuppam railway station in Chittoor district in Andhra Pradesh. The bodies were discovered around 2 am on Wednesday by the RPF officials.

According to an RPF police officer from the Kuppam railway police station, the couple were in love with each other and seem to have eloped on Tuesday afternoon. “Monisha left from her college on Tuesday afternoon and she was joined by Hemanth Kumar later. Their bodies were discovered on the track around 2 am on Wednesday. We don’t have any other detail as of now, the investigation is going on. The parents of the couple are yet to arrive to take the bodies,” he said.

As per reports, the couple were from Ettikulam village near Uthukottai in Tiruvallur district, Tamil Nadu. Monisha was a final year undergraduate student in a women’s college in Arcot in Vellore district. Hemanth was working in an IT company in Bengaluru after graduating as a mechanical engineer. Monisha's parents were against their relationship since they wanted to marry her off to her maternal uncle, reported Times of India.

The police officer also added that both the man and the woman belonged to the Mudaliar community and that investigation is on to find out if the couple killed themselves or if they were killed by someone else and their bodies were flung on the track.

The police have registered an FIR under section 174 of the CrPC which deals with suicide and unnatural death and the procedure that the police and the magistrate need to follow in such cases.
