Watch scary video: Road above Chennai Metro tunnel caves in

A part of the road near the Rajiv Gandhi General Hospital in Chennai where Metro rail tunnel construction was in progress caved in partially on Friday afternoon.The Chennai Metro Rail (CMRL) tunnelling work has been undertaken near the road opposite to the Southern Railway office where a portion of the road cracked and sunk in. There have been no casualties. Immediately after the incident, a car which got caught when the road sunk in was lifted using a crane even as passers-by stopped by to take a look.  The incident occured at around two pm during non-peak hours. The incident comes a week after part of an iron scaffolding at an under-construction metro railway station fell on a biker’s head as he was riding.
