Vijayakanth part of NDA alliance till he quits officially says BJP

Written by : TNM Staff

The People’s Welfare Alliance in Tamil Nadu has gone all out in its attempt to woo DMDK leader Vijayakanth to its fold. Leaders of the alliance including Vaiko, left party leaders and Thirumavalavan recently met Vijayakanth.

Though Vijayakanth has been non-committal on whether he will join the alliance, he has repeatedly said that he will work against the DMK and AIADMK.

The DMDK however remains a part of the NDA alliance in Tamil Nadu. With PWA meeting Vijayakanth, BJP leaders are being constantly asked if the DMDK has quit the NDA. In a bid to put the controversy to end union minister Pon Radhakrishnan told the media that DMDK was a part of their alliance as long as the party or Vijayakanth had not officially quit.

“As far we are concerned, DMDK is part of NDA and will continue to do so till Vijayakanth officially announces otherwise,” he told the media.

The minister also said that the efforts being made to break the NDA alliance showed how detractors viewed NDA as a strong alliance.
