A clash broke out between AIADMK and DMDK cadres in Thanjavur on Monday when the AIADMK cadres pulled down the banners put up by DMDK cadres. The DMDK cadres had removed Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s portrait from a bus shelter after another poster of Vijayakanth’s hung in front of it was pulled down.

During a protest demonstration near Head post office in Thanjavur, DMDK leader Vijayakanth saw his portrait hanging from the roof of a bus shelter and showed displeasure over it. Immediately, a DMDK cadre climbed up the shelter and covered Jayalalithaa’s portrait with Vijayakanth’s portrait.

When that poster was put up, Vijayakanth asked cadres to remove Jayalalithaa’s picture from that spot, which his followers promptly did to the cheers of the crowd.

Later, AIADMK members met at the Head Post office and removed all the banners put up by DMDK cadres which led to a clash between the members of both the parties and five DMDK members were injured.
