With the much talked about 'Hadiya case' set to come up for hearing in the Supreme Court on Monday, the Vettiver collective in Chennai has released a music video titled the 'Privacy song' to highlight the importance of this right on every day life.

The song which is also called The Akavurimai Paattu is a collaborative effort by Justice Rocks arts project featuring Carnatic musician T.M. Krishna, poet Perumal Murugan, Navayan Maha Jalsa's Shital Sathe group & Rapper Sofia Ashraf.

In the Hadiya case, the marriage of two consenting adults was set aside by the Kerala High Court, and an adult woman was subsequently remanded to her father's custody. The Supreme Court's September 24 judgement on the Right to Privacy clearly endorses the right to choose one's life and life partner, the right to free movement and underscores privacy as a natural right without which an individual cannot enjoy the dignity and the space required to be an individual. The Apex Court too will be bound by its 9 member bench's order in adjudicating the Hadiya matter.

All the artists can be seen singing or reciting a poem about privacy and why it is necessary for a citizen to exercise this right to lead a fulfilling life. It also touches upon  subjects such as the beef ban and Aadhar card.
