Vaiko arrested by Vellore police ahead of protest march over AP encounte

Written by : TNM

After the Madras High Court washed their hands off the AP encounter saying that it was out of their jurisdiction, MDMK leader Vaiko along with other party members were arrested by the Vellore police on Friday for agitating over the recent shootout in the Seschalayam forest. Three hundred people along with Vaiko and Mallay Satya , another party leader were detained by the police just after they began a march from Vellore to Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh. "We want a judicial probe headed by a sitting judge of the Supreme Court. The AP police and govt is involved in a cover-up. Bodies have cuts and burn injuries. We condemn the silence of the PM. The TN govt is not aggressive enough on this issue.” said Vaiko while talking to The News Minute. Vaiko whipped up Tamil passions by criticising both state governments for their inaction on the deaths of 20 men in Andhra on allegations that they were red sanders smugglers.
