Two Class 10 students were allegedly sexually assaulted by their Physical Education teacher in Velankanni on November 1, after they were taken out on the pretext of participating in a tournament.

Dinesh, a 32-year-old Physical Education teacher at a matriculation school in Shanmuga Nagar in Trichy, took two girls and a schoolteacher for a state level basketball tournament in Salem.

After reaching the centre bus stand, Dinesh told the three that the tournament had been cancelled. He asked the teacher to go home and said that he will drop the two girl students. When the teacher left, he told the students that the match was shifted to Velankanni. He then took the girls to a lodge there and allegedly sexually assaulted them. He also warned them that if they tell about this incident to anyone, he will leak the pictures on social media, reported The New Indian Express.

However, one of the girl students told her parents about the incident on Thursday. After the incident came to light, the locals and family members protested in front of the school. Both Dinesh and the teacher are absconding, according to TNIE.

Trichy police reached the place and filed a case against Dinesh. As minors are involved, the case was transferred to an All Women Police Station.
