The Tamil Nadu Mahila Congress president S Vijaydharani has been sacked and replaced by Dindigul district women’s wing president M Jhansirani.

According to The Times of India, AICC general secretary Janardhan Dwivedi in Delhi on Friday that the decision was made by Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi.

State Congress president EVKS Elangovan said that this was expected as despite warnings Vijaydharani was involved in anti-party activities.

Vijaydharani told TOI, “This is gross injustice. Elangovan has forced the high command to send me out. I am surprised that instead of taking action against Elangovan who abused me and some Mahila Congress workers badly over the past two months, Rahulji has acted against a victim like me. After Rahulji gives me an explanation, I will take a decision on my future course of action.”

Vijaydharani was said to have backing of senior leader P Chidambaram and former state union chief Thangkabalu who had taken a delegation of state party leaders to Delhi on October 30. They had also asked Rahul Gandhi to either replace Elangovan with another party leader or to constitute few party leaders to oversee his work.
