TN woman sentenced to life for killing her nine-month-old child

A local court in Perambalur, Tamil Nadu has sentenced a 21-year-old woman to life imprisonment for murdering her nine-month-old baby boy by flinging him into a farm well in 2015.

Principal District and Sessions court judge A.Nashima Bhanu also slapped a fine of Rs.1000 on Vijayalakshmi.

The woman, who got married in 2013, was living with her grandmother following a quarrel with her husband Ramasamy, who had gone abroad.

She was despondent over her future and and that of the baby's and had flung the infant into a farm well at Vijayapuram near Poolampadi on May 30,2015.

The post-mortem report revealed that the baby died of heart attack triggered by shock.

On a complaint from the Village Administrative officer, police arrested Vijayalaksmhi and registered a case against her.
