TN’s Finance Minister OPS has assests worth Rs.8.6 lakh

Two-time chief minister and finance minister O. Panneerselvam has declared his total asset value at a meagre Rs. 8.6 lakh. OPS, as he is fondly known, filed his nomination on Thursday at Bodi constituency. 

According to his election affadivit, the minister does not have any immovable assets in his name. Furthermore, his assets have increased only by Rs. 15, 89, 630 over the past five years, reported Dinamalar.

According to Dinamalar, his movable assets include Rs 10, 000 cash in hand, a bank deposit amounting to Rs. 9, 39, 893, 16 grams of gold, and two cars worth Rs.23, 40, 635; the total value of his movable assets come to Rs.33, 20, 529. Apart from this, he has a loan worth Rs. 25, 00, 734 as a liability. 

He reportedly had movable assets worth Rs. 17, 30, 899 in 2011.

However, his wife Viayalakshmi has movable assets worth Rs. 22, 44, 545 and immovable assets worth Rs. 98 lakh. Her immovable assets were calculated at Rs. 34, 20, 000 in 2011.
