TN police questions TV journalists over interview of murder-accused Yuvaraj

The CB-CID of the Tamil Nadu police which is investigating the death of Dalit youth Gokulraj, who is alleged to have been murdered by caste-outfit leader Yuvaraj, is also questioning two journalists from Puthiya Thalaimurai who had interviewed the murder-accused while he was absconding.

Yuvaraj has since surrendered and is now under police custody.

Sources in the police department and the news channel say that two journalists, Thiruchengode reporter Vijayakumar and Namakkal district reporter Duraisamy had been summoned to the CB-CID office in Coimbatore for an enquiry.

The two journalists reached the Coimbatore office at 10 30AM on Saturday. They have also been reportedly asked to handover the unedited footage of the interview. You can read about the interview here, and about the investigation in the case here.

On October 4, Puthiya Thalaimurai aired an interview with Yuvaraj recorded at an undisclosed location. The interview was reportedly set-up after a request by Thiruchengode reporter Vijaykumar over Facebook.

The interview created a flutter across the state and the news channel was questioned for providing a platform for a caste-fanatic murder-accused to air his views and reach out to a large audience.
