Days after actor Kamal Haasan declared that no government department in Tamil Nadu was free of corruption, Municipal adminstration minister SP Velumani has issued the movie a star a threat. On Saturday, while talking to reporters in the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital, the minister said he will conduct an audit to check if the actor had properly paid taxes for his films.

The minister was visiting the hospital to meet people who suffered injuries in a road accident at Kallar near Mettupalayam. When questioned regarding the actor's statements, he launched a tirade demanding that Kamal Haasan submit proof to back his allegations against the Government. He then proceeded to warn Kamal of a probe into his tax records.

"I will conduct an audit to check if the actor had properly paid taxes for his films," the Municipal Administration minister, told The Hindu.

He then reportedly went on to defend the state Government that is battling multiple graft charges by asking, “Is there any evidence (for the actor) to prove that corruption prevails in various government departments? If so, let him prove it.”

The actor and Bigg Boss host has been in the eye of controversies recently, with right wing groups demanding that his television show should be banned. The show, according to the Hindu Makkal Katchi, is against Tamil culture. They have conducted various protests against the show and even filed a complaint with the Chennai Police Commissioner.
