Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi said that India was the only country which was not born out of conquest but through Vedas.
Speaking at a religious gathering in Chennai on Saturday, August 16, to mark the birth anniversary of Marathi saint Gnaneshwar Maharaj, he said, “Bharat is the only country that was not born out of conquest by powerful rulers or armies but through knowledge revealed by the divine in the Vedas. Whenever we celebrate our saints, sages or avatars, we are celebrating Bharat.”
He claimed that “Bharath Rashtra” was born when rishis spread the vedas in different regions. “Because of European colonisation and subjugation we look at everything through the European lens. The Rashtra is not the nation. It does not have an equivalent in any language,” he said.
Quoting Aurobindo Ghosh, Ravi said that “Bharat is the living energy of Sanatana Dharma, and its existence depends on its commitment to Sanatana Dharma.” He claimed that the country was invaded after Sanatan weakened, a thousand years ago. And despite the invasion and demolition of temples, Sanatan could not be destroyed, he said.
The Governor said that all the places of spiritual energy were waking up alluding to the Ram janmabhoomi issue and construction of the temple in Ayodhya.
He also claimed that India’s global standing has improved after it rediscovered its Sanatan roots. “Ten years ago, the world kept us at the margins. Today, no country can take decisions without Bharat at the table. This has happened because we rediscovered who we are, whose descendants we are, and what obligations we carry.”
