Tiruchy history-sheeter arrested for robbing Tamil actress Rajashree

After Actress S Rajashree was robbed on Tuesday, the Chennai police has arrested a 30-year-old history-sheeter from Tiruchy on Thursday with the help of CCTV footage and are also searching for the other suspects in the case.

Rajashree was robbed of Rs 30 lakhs worth valuables from Panagal Park in Chennai. The police recovered Rs 30 lakh worth Rolex wach and diamonds, ten sovereigns of gold jewellery and a bracelet from the man, according to The New Indian Express. Sarfuddin, the arrested person is a native of Ramji Nagar near Tiruchy.

Police told The New Indian Express that the actress and her son had visited a bank on Tuesday and collected valuables from the locker to attend a relative’s wedding. She was sitting alone in the car when a middle-aged man came and told her that few currency notes had fallen outside the car. She came out of the car and the man took the bag of valuables from the back of the car.

An accomplice was waiting for this man in a bike and they both escaped with the valuables. Rajashree filed a complaint at the Pondy Bazaar police station.

Police used the CCTV footages of a shop near the bank and arrested the man, Sarfuddin, who already has other theft cases on him.
