Thrown out of her Chennai home, court comes to 87 year-old’s rescue

The News Minute | February 20, 2015 | 06.45 am ISTThe Madras Metropolitan Magistrate Court ruled in favour of an 87 year-old woman who had requested the aid of the court in occupying a portion of her own home.Rosemary Angelina, was married to Gnanaprakasam, a driver working for the Santhome Church since 1955. Allotted a house by the church, she continued to live there with her son Roch Luis Francis and his wife Martha Francis after his death, reported New Indian Express.When her medical bills and expenses increased, she filed a claim seeking financial support from her son. In return, her son filed a petition to set aside the ex parte order.She however, moved the court, alleging that she had been thrown out of her home on November 1,2013. Soon after, the court passed an order which clearly stated that none was to disturb her. However, when Rosemary withdrew her plea after a compromise on December 12, 2014 , her son and his wife reacted violently preventing her from occupying her portion of the house, said the report.
