Talent crunch? It's the same granny in AIADMK and DMK ads

Written by : TNM

Apart from blatantly blaming each other in the television advertisements ahead of the state assembly elections, the advertisements of DMK and AIADMK have another thing in common – it’s Kasturi Paati who features in the commercials of both the parties.

While in one ad she says 'Amma' fed her, in another she says why vote for the incumbent government.

“I am in a state of shock. I was not told by the agent that I was going to act in DMK’s advertisement. I only knew that I was going to be cast for Amma’s party,” said Kasturi to Vikatan. She also said that every time she sees that DMK advertisement being aired, she goes into a state of dizzy.

Kasturi further added that the children in her locality are making fun of her for acting in the advertisements of the arch-rivals and that she is hesitant to go out.

“If I had known that I was to act in DMK’s advertisement, I would have never agreed to act. Now everyone is calling me to act in advertisements like they call people to talk in meetings,” said Kasturi.

She claims that she is a neutral person who does not have a specific political leaning.  She told Puthiya Thalamurai that while she got Rs 1,500 for the AIADMK ad, she recieved just Rs 1,000 for the DMK ad.
