Super Singer 5: Anand was already a playback singer, viral FB post claims Vijay TV flouted rules

Written by : TNM Staff

Chennai resident Anand Aravindakshan was announced as the winner of the Vijay TV show ‘Super Singer 5’ on Friday night at DB Jain College, Thoraipakkam in Chennai.

But a viral Facebook post, the authenticity of which we cannot verify, has pointed that Anand Aravindakshan, the winner of this year’s Airtel Super Singer 5, was previously a playback singer for many popular films. The show is believed to exhibit raw and new talent who want to break in to the competitive world of playback singing. Anand however, as this post claims, is already established. His name appears on singing credits of 10 recent Tamil movies.

And here’s Sundarapandian, another relatively popular film.

And Neerparavai, which also came out in 2012.

In all the above, Anand features as a playback singer.

The post claims that the singer was initially eliminated in one of many rounds on the show, but brought back on a wildcard entry. Over the years, the competition is believed widely to have remained open only to fresh and new talent, who have not had the opportunity to foray into commercial playback singing. Is Vijay TV simply using the show as a marketing platform for already established names in the playback field?
