Stalin's campaign releases anti-alcohol video, to hold medical consultation on health impacts

Written by : TNM Staff

As Tamil Nadu readies itself for the upcoming state Assembly polls and various parties form their allies, DMK treasurer MK Stalin's campaign has released a video on the health impacts of alcohol and announced that medical consultations to be held to discuss how to control the problem of alcoholism.

The video talks about how alcohol affects the body and the brain and was followed by a statement by Stalin on Facebook, saying that he would hold a medical consultation "on the major gaps in our healthcare system and plausible solutions to them."

The consultations being held under the DMK treasurer's 'Namakku Naame' campaign bear a similarity with Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal's Delhi Dialogue Commission.

In November last year, Stalin had urged the ruling AIADMK government to follow Bihar's example of prohibition and said that several women had asked him to shut down TASMAC shops and he had promised to fulfill their demands along with prohibiting liquor sales in the state.

Here is the text of Stalin's Facebook statement:

On January 10, 2016 I will be in Coimbatore to participate in the Medical Professionals’ Conclave organized by the DMK Medical Wing. I will continue my mission, which began with the Namakku Naame journey to discuss and debate with experts, professionals and end beneficiaries, on the major gaps in our healthcare system and plausible solutions to them.

Healthcare is the cornerstone of a happy and developed society. I am looking forward to listen to and share innovative ideas to build an accessible, affordable and modern healthcare system which will propel Tamil Nadu’s development in the next decade! I invite you all to participate and share your suggestions at http://www.mudiyatumvidiyatum.in/medical #‎NamakkuNaame
