On the fourth leg of his ‘Namakku Namae’ tour, DMK’s MK Stalin has promised a multimedia park, legislation for guarantee of IT services, developing of rural BPOs, and a paperless government if his party comes to power. Speaking to IT professionals at a conclave in Chennai, Stalin has promised to ensure the growth of the sector with these new initiatives, and said he will improve the ease of starting companies in Tamil Nadu.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, Stalin said, “We recognise the importance of new businesses and start-ups. For a focused approach to promoting entrepreneurs we intend to set up a Single Window Clearance to improve the ease of starting companies. We will also formulate a digital map to connect the investors with startups.”

The IT industry in Chennai, which suffered losses to the tune of $60 million in the recent Tamil Nadu floods, has also been promised an ‘IT industry centric Disaster Management policy’.

As the Assembly elections get nearer, the DMK Treasurer is on the fourth leg of his contact tour in Tamil Nadu. ‘Namakku Namae’, meaning ‘Us, for ourselves’, was started in September last year to much fanfare, although many people have criticised Stalin for refusing to go beyond anti-AIADMK rhetoric while addressing people through his campaign. In the fourth phase, that started in January, Stalin has so far reached out to sanitation workers, fishermen, auto drivers, lawyers, RWAs and IT professionals.
