A 19-year old SRM student was found hanging from the ceiling of his hostel room in the Kattakulathur campus on Monday morning.

According to The Times of India, the body was recovered after his roommates complained of a foul smell in the hostel room.

Logesh Guhan returned to his hostel room on Saturday evening after spending the puja holidays with his family.

When his roommate Vijaya Baskar reached the hostel, he found the door bolted from inside and a foul smell emanating.

He knocked on the door but there was no response.

When they peeped into the room, they found Guhan hanging from the ceiling.

The police were informed by the warden who broke open the door and recovered the body. They registered a case under CrPC Section 174 (unnatural death).

Police said Guhan had joined the course last year and discontinued his studies after he met with an accident.

He had not attended classes for almost half a year, as a result of which the college management suspended him.

He joined the same course this academic year.

He met with another accident and suffered a leg injury during his holidays a few days back.
