Maggi Noodle sales commenced in several states across India on Monday but it is yet to begin in Tamil Nadu, the state food safety department said.

“The company has made a representation to us but the Commissioner has asked for a few clarifications. Once they reply, it will be taken into consideration”, said a senior food safety department to The Hindu.

Various supermarkets in Chennai said that they have not received any stocks of the Maggi packet. They just know that the ban was lifted and they will be receiving stock soon.

One of the staff at a supermarket in Anna Nagar said that they would start stocking up Maggi after they get the reviewed license and certificate of Nestle, according to The Hindu.

Food safety department officials from Tiruchy and Coimbatore also have not received any orders about the lifting ban on Maggi noodles. Coimbatore officials also said that a second round of test might be carried out before allowing Maggi to be sold in the state.

When Maggi ban was imposed on June 4, 2015 in the state and about five tonnes of Maggi noodles packets were returned to the distributors and 18 Food Safety Officials were posted to check the sales of the product.
