Sixty-two-year-old Chennai man’s matrimonial ad gets him abducted; police arrest three

However, what began innocuously ended up in him being abducted, threatened and blackmailed for four days, reported New Indian Express. According to the report, Ramamurthy had put an ad in a Tamil paper on February 15 after which a woman had contacted him through phone and fixed a meeting point for the two. When he went near the CMBT terminus as instructed, he was approached by two men who told him that they were relatives of Vaishnavi and took him to a nearby vehicle. Soon enough , he was joined by three more men, after which the gang tortured and threatened him for four days, said the report. According to police, the gang had been roaming across the state, threatening him about details regarding his properties and cash. When Ramamurthy was finally allowed to go to a bank to withdraw Rs 25 lakh that he promised them, an alert was raised after which the gang fled the scene.After the incident, Tambaram police have arrested three people including a 51 year-old woman, reported New Indian Express.
