Simbu beep song controversy spills over to Nadigar Sangam, Vishal issues notice to Radhika

Written by : TNM Staff

Days after actress Radhika Sarathkumar made repeated allegations that the Nadigar Sangam is not working to resolve the problems facing actor Simbu over his “beep song”, the Sangam’s office bearers have now hit back saying that they will issue a show cause notice to Radhika for her misleading statements.

Actor Simbu is facing the wrath of activists and the state government over his leaked song which is seen as abusive and misogynistic. FIRs have been filed against him and music director Anirudh in Chennai and Coimbatore. It is to be noted here that Simbu was in the camp opposing Vishal and others in the Nadigar Sangam elections which were held in October.

Speaking to the media, Sangam’s President Nasser and Secretary Vishal said on Saturday that they have indeed been in touch with Simbu and his family, and have also offered to help, but it was the family which insisted that they will take care of the issue through legal representation. “We are going to serve a showcause notice to actress Radhika over her comments on the Nadigar Sangam. It is wrong to say that we have been silent on this issue when we have been in touch with Simbu and his family and have been looking to help them,” Vishal said.

Earlier Radhika had said in an interview that the Sangam was not supporting Simbu. “Nadigar Sangam should take a stand. This can happen to anyone of you also for singing in the bathroom and taking selfies,” she had said.

Meanwhile, the two sides are also sparring over the issue of SPI Cinemas’ construction at the head office of Nadigar Sangam. “The talks to cancel the deal with SPI cinemas are in the final stage of negotiation. We have to pay them money. We expected a discount and they waived off the interest but even then, it is a substantial amount. It comes to around `2.48 crore. We don’t have the money to pay them off. So, we are looking to work a way out,” Vishal reportedly said.
