Shifting law college a necessity, says Madras High Court

The News Minute | February 11, 2015 | 09.00 am ISTDespite students protesting against the proposed move of the Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College, the Madras High Court on Tuesday called it a ‘necessity’.Dismissing a petition by a second year student , I Siddiq which said that the college must not be shifted to a place 50-60 km away, the Bench comprising Chief Justice S.K. Kaul and Justice M.M. Sundresh called the move a necessity as the college building was unsafe, reported The Hindu. It has been declared unsafe by PWD the reasons for which are still under dispute, and even experts had deemed the building required urgent repairs. The Bench questioned who would take responsibility in any untoward incident occurring in the building, it asked the petitioner’s counsel. “Thus there is no doubt that shifting of the college is a necessity.” it said.TweetFollow @thenewsminute
