Just less than six months before Tamil Nadu goes for Assembly polls, PMK leader and chief ministerial candidate Anbumani Ramadoss has landed in fresh trouble.

A special court based on prima facie evidence directed framing of charges aazgainst the ex Union Health Minister and some others of corruption in private medical colleges in the states of Uttar  Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

The charges include criminal conspiracy, cheating and forgery under the IPC and other provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act.

In a Hindu report, Special CBI Judge Ajay Kumar Jain was quoted, “Put up the matter for formal framing of charges against the accused in both the cases on November 2.”

Reacting to the news, Anbumani Ramadoss dismissed it as routine judicial process and denied it was a setback to him.

“My name was not there in the Preliminary Enquiry and the First Information Report. But when the charge sheet was filed in the year 2012, my name was included without any prima facia but for political reasons.

I submitted a discharge petition in 2012 to release me from the case since there was no base for the accusations. This discharge petition was tried by 4 subsequent judges in the last three and half years. Today the Honourable Judge has dismissed my discharge petition.

This is a routine judicial process. Since no action has been taken on the case so far, this does not signify any setback for me in this case. I will handle the case by legal means”
