One of the prime suspects in the murder at Jayalalithaa’s tea estate Kodanadu, K V Sayan was interrogated by the police at the GKNMM hospital in Coimbatore, on Wednesday.

Police said that they need to interrogate him again as they cannot pressurise him too much due to his fragile health condition.

Addressing the media outside the hospital in Coimbatore, S Murali, investigating officer in the case, said, “Now Sayan is stable and conscious. We were concentrating on saving his life and he is able to speak slightly now. We are investigating in all dimensions and police are working round the clock. We are collecting scientific and substantial evidence,” he said.

He added that the death of Kanagraj, one of the prime accused in the case, or the injury of Sayan, has not affected the case investigation.

Sayan had an accident when he was travelling from Thrissur to Palakkad on Friday with his wife and daughter.  His wife Vinupriya (27) and daughter Neethu (5) died on the spot.

On Tuesday, police searched Kanagraj’s house in Coimbatore to find evidence in the case.

Kanagraj had allegedly died in a car accident near Attur on Friday. His body was found in Salem on Saturday. Reports suggest that Kanagaraj, who was riding his bike, was hit by a Karnataka registration car near Attur at 8.30pm on Friday.

On April 24, a security guard, Om Bahadur, who was guarding Gate No 9 of Jayalalithaa’s Kodanadu tea estate was found murdered. Krishna Bahadur, another guard, was also injured by a gang. The police have found that the motive of the crime was robbery and a gang from Kerala, called in by Kanagraj, was involved in the crime.
