The spokesperson of IIT Madras wrote a letter defending their move to derecognise the Ambedkar Periyar Study Circle (APSC) student group.  The statement said that all recognized student groups are required to follow guidelines prescribed by the Board of Students. Since the APSC has violated the guidelines by using the name of IIT Madras without permission to conduct meetings and garner support, they have been temporarily derecognised, pending presenting their stand to the board.   Also read: Full Letter: IIT Madras APSC students respond to derecognition
