Eminent personalities in Tamil Nadu continue to make a beeline for ‘Veda Nilayam’, late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s residence where AIADMK General Secretary VK Sasikala resides.

Members of the Tamil Nadu Film Producers Council including its President Kalaipuli S Dhanu and General Secretary RK Selvamani met Sasikala on Thursday to invite her for the centenary birth celebrations of late CM MG Ramachandran. Also present on the occasion was Nadigar Sangam President Nasser and other allied association members.

Others from the film fraternity that met the AIADMK supremo include K Bagyaraj, Bharathiraja, Lingusamy, SA Rajkumar, and others.

MGR’s centenary birth anniversary falls on January 17 and to mark the occasion many events have been planned by the film associations. Sasikala has reportedly promised to light the traditional lamp to kick-start the celebration.

The ruling AIAMK has also planned several events to mark MGR’s birth anniversary. While Sasikala will release a souvenir on the occasion, the party will also hold three-day public meetings across the state to commemorate the birth centenary celebrations.

The state government has also urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to honour MGR by releasing a commemorative coin and a special postage stamp.
